I had stopped posting for a while...a long while due to lack of time to create content. No, lack time to create good content. Creating content is easy, but good content is a killer.
So this post is about what has been on the top of my list lately, which is contemporary art. I just finished a course on contemporary art for my grad program. I thoroughly enjoyed it, minus assignment deadlines and a penchant for procrastination.
Learned a little about a lot. One artist that was focused on was Yoko Ono. I knew about Ono and her work and her history with John Lennon. But there was a lot that I didn't know. Have you heard of her performance piece, Cut Piece, 1964? Essentially, it is a performance art piece where she sat silently while audience members were allowed to come forward and cut pieces of her clothes away. Sounds crazy? From my interpretation, that is what she wanted to highlight....how crazy people actually are, how far people will go, how inconsiderate we can be of each other. Some people cut away her bra to expose her body...because, yeah that is who people are, I guess.
Anyway, if this sounds interesting to you, check out the links that I provided below.
